On Monday, August 18th, proprietor Salvatore Buscaglia invited the public to this historic establishment in the heart of the new medical corridor on Ellicott Street. Opened in 1868, Ulrich’s Tavern has been known for authentic German fare and fixtures dating back to the 19th century. Having survived Prohibition & the Depression, Ulrich’s was recently renovated, restored & updated for the 21st century.
At the ribbon cutting ceremony, a proclamation was read by New York State Senator Mark Grisanti. Virginia Street was blocked off from Washington to Ellicott Street with outdoor tents and German music by The Frankfurters. Complimentary hors d’oeuvres and authentic German food and beer were served along with beer samplings from Hamburg Brewery and two outdoor bars sponsored by Red Bull.
Salvatore Buscaglia also owns and operates the highly successful Snooty Fox Restaurant & Lounge on Delaware Ave. His recent acquisition of Ulrich’s has breathed new life into Buffalo’s oldest tavern.
Ulrich's is open daily for lunch & dinner.
